Over time it has become muddy in my mind, about what happened before what, but suffice to say that — once my Commodore Amiga adventure came to an end — an internet era begun and I have spent most of my time at SRCE university computer center learning Solaris. The primary driver was social media (IRC at the time) but also MUD and e-mail and some basic shell scripting.
This Unix voyage led me to Linux, eventually, because that was the way to have Unix at home as well. Suffice to say that Tux and I became inseparable ever since, no matter how much Windows tried to break this bond.
My first distro was Debian and my current distro is Debian.
I am still learning Linux, I do my video editing on Linux, I do my video games on Linux, I listen to music and watch movies on Linux, I read e-books on Linux, I am learning programming on Linux, and I try to stay away from proprietary software as humanly possible.
Sometimes people ask me which phone OS I use?
— I am not a phone OS enjoyer. I do all my compute on a real computer. My true endgame goal is to upgrade my phone to Nokia 1110, and use my laptop for everything that I use a phone for, nowadays, excluding actual phone calls and SMS. How viable this plan is — I have no clue. Stick around and find out.
Meanwhile I will continue preaching my affection towards reliable operating systems such as Debian.
Hey, nice post here. And I’m happy I’m not alone to want to use a phone for it is: a phone. I think I’ll try soon to get rid of my smartphone and just use my old dealer phone. I wanted to do this not a long time ago but I forgot it. Let’s try this adventure soon.
Thanks for the reply. I already had a month-long sessions without a smartphone and it’s doable. But the pull is too great and the transition needs to go slower.
That’s the point. For example bank stuffs, you have to confirm on you smarphone. And I don’t like that I need to some “genius” think is a good thing to spoof my incall wh;ile my bank app is connectd. My calls, my problems. It’s even not working against fraud.

As I sais, I leave alone, by choice or because of mother nature made me like that, but i feel okay. people which suffering of lonelyness… i hope things get better for tham.I know what lonelyness is and I don´t want to anyone suffer of this, Anyone.
It’s been some days since we discussed, but I have been evaluating some facts. See, my bank has a web interface which has the exact same options as their phone app - minus the “pay by scanning QR” option. So, in theory, it’s not impossible to do banking without the phone. Then there is Revolut which also has a web app, but with much less options compared to phone app. I think it even uses the phone app as 2FA.
