Hello, world - An introduction

Hello, world! My name is Larry Cafiero, a Linux user of a multiplicity of distros (more on this later) since 2006, when an update on a flavored iMac failed multiple times. I installed Debian for PowerPC and never looked back.

Currently, I write a weekly blog called “Distro of the Week” at - appropriately - http://www.distrooftheweek.com where I take one of the over 400 active distros listed on Distrowatch for a spin and write about it. I formerly wrote a column for FOSS Force about the same topic.

A journalist by former profession - now retired - I served as the media coordinator for the Southern California Linux Expo (SCALE) and as an ambassador for the Fedora Project for quite awhile. While I am still Fedora-sympathetic, my daily driver is now BunsenLabs Carbon, a Debian-based distro with the Openbox window manager.

I look forward to contributing to this forum. If you’re still awake, thanks for reading.

Hey Larry, welcome in! Glad to have you.

I like your blog. I used to write for “Lords of Gaming” website and a couple high-profile outlets. I also had an editor who trained me. I believe I am a fairly good writer but not a pro like you. Looking forward to seeing what you will add here.
