Self-hosting your own email without always ending up in the spam folder

Is it possible to self host your own email and be trusted by email providers like gmail? What do you need to do to avoid ending up in the spam folder?

Well, before you can even send e-mails to providers, there are a bunch of things you have to do for “security”, such as setting up PTR record for your IP, some DNS records, etc. Also, you need IPv4 or else you won’t be able to send emails (you can probably still receive most of the time).

It’s a very annoying process and it doesn’t really pay off as there aren’t much advantages of hosting your own email server.

there are a lot of advantages : owning your data and you have full control.

Well, if you are worried about the privacy of your messages, you can just use GPG. Can you give some examples of “full control”?
