DaVinci Resolve on Debian Linux – Install and Make Your First Video

For a year I kept dismissing DaVinci Resolve because of the free version’s limitations: no codec support. You have to transcode everything. Kdenlive worked perfectly fine for me.

But I decided to give it one more shot. Here’s the first video in a series: installing Resolve 21 beta on Debian 13 with MakeResolveDeb, timeline basics and first export.

Question for you: are you using Resolve on Linux and how did you solve the codec problem? Do you transcode or do you have a better workflow?
