My name is Larry Cafiero and I write the Distro of the Week column on line. Distro of the Week is a continuation of the weekly column I wrote for FOSS Force until I was laid off there (amicably, I might add).
If this is somehow verboten on this forum, I apologize and the admins can delete it. But for this week, here is Linux Q83 13.14 Kopernik, this week’s Distro of the Week.
I am a small Linux “content creator” and if I can help you by putting a tiny spotlight on you, rather than on some big publication, I will gladly do that because you seem to be investing genuine effort into your writing. Keep it up inside this thread if that sounds good. I would like this place to be tidy (and searchable) in the long run.
this type of content i would welcome here (even if i am not a admin/mod here) and having this forum connected to many things would not be the worst thing and sens its a weekly thing it would not be like spam to other content/advertismet so in the long run it might be good to have some consistansy on the forum from more people other then darth.

I’m not a mod but I would definitely agree with doing so, I like things and content which is made by people who genuinely care about what they do, not some AI Slop or producing only for the sake of producing. Btw, what do you mean by “an Eastern European look about the distro”? I haven’t heard such statement yet, now I’m curious what it means.
Perhaps he means “Made in Poland”?
Yeah. I am aware that it is made in Poland. I just don’t know what he meant when he wrote about his experience with the distribution on the distro of the week site. He said that it had an Eastern European look to it. I’m just curious what that means.
Hi there. Yes, I wrote an “Eastern European look” about Linux Q83, and it was a throw-away line – at least I thought so at the time. And darth is correct, since the distro is Polish there’s sort of – at least in my opinion – an Eastern European look about it, meaning that it’s stark and utilitarian. As I wrote, the default desktop photo was too dark for me, so I changed it. That’s all. If you read the entire review, I actually liked Linux Q83 a lot.
Well, a day late – Distro of the Week runs on Wednesdays – but here’s this week’s “Distro of the Week,” Garuda Temeraire Xfce. While there were a lot of desktops and window managers to choose from with Garuda, I went with the familiar. But in spite of that, the Garuda team took a year to make a new release and it shows – congrats all around to all.
it shows you do this with great pride is reads like a pro wrote this kudos to you and at this point i must asume your already working on the next one for this quality.
but have to ask still not fully clear why it was this one of the week like what are the criteria or parameters to be a weekly sens theres no score system that i saw?
Well, thanks for the compliment. Not sure what you’re asking, but how do I choose a distro for Distro of the Week? It’s simple - mostly I visit Distrowatch-dot-com and see what’s either new or updated (or both), and also I take requests by email (hint: next week’s Distro of the Week was submitted by a reader). I am always open to suggestions, so bring 'em on 
I haven’t given a thought to “rating” distros with a number (or stars or penguins or whatever) each week, though I might consider it. I aim to be as clear as possible in my reviews each week and, truth be told, I haven’t met a distro I haven’t liked.
